- Where does my machine actually run?
- Wherever you want it — and you can change your mind at any time. By default it runs right in your browser tab, where brintOS's WebAssembly hypervisor drives your real CPU, RAM, and USB ports. Nothing leaves your machine, nothing is shared with another tenant, and we never throttle or meter it: the full speed of your hardware is free, forever. When you need that same machine to outlive the tab, migrate it to the cloud and it keeps running while your laptop sleeps — or hand it more cores and RAM than your hardware has. It is the same filesystem and the same machine either way, so you only pay server minutes for the time it actually spends in the cloud. Every plan, Free included, comes with server minutes to try it.
- Why are public machines free?
- Public machines exist to be forked. The more people use them, the more useful brintOS becomes — we'd rather everyone publish than gatekeep great toolchains behind a paywall.
- What does the paid plan buy me?
- Privacy and headroom. Private machines, a generous slice of cloud storage so you can hop between devices, and Network-as-a-service — a real virtual NIC for your kernel with raw IP, UDP, and ICMP outbound. Paid plans then raise every cloud allowance: up to a thousand times the server minutes, so more machines stay live for longer on bigger hardware, and up to a thousand times the Bashby AI tokens — plus monthly AI credit on Pro and Enterprise to spend on Claude, ChatGPT, or Grok. What never changes is the tab: running on your own CPU and RAM is full speed, unmetered, and free on every plan.
